The director dreams of making a 16mm masturbation film guided by her grandmother - according to an old recipe. With great displeasure she has to realize that her subconscious makes use of a male gaze and old gender roles.

Eine Filmemacherin träumt davon, einen 16mm Masturbationsfilm zu drehen, der von ihrer Oma angeleitet wird - nach altbewährtem Rezept. Mit großem Missfallen muss sie feststellen, dass sich ihr Unterbewusstsein eines männlichen Blickes und alter Geschlechterrollen bedient.

„Sheela-na-Gig“ is a term for medieval stone figures, that display their vulvas in an impertinant way.

They reflect both, an ancient „female power“ but also the misogyny during history until today.

Based on this notion, the essayistic shortfilm SHEELA tells in various episodes about the concept of femaleness.

Drawn animation meets live action meets stop motion.

„Sheela-na-Gig“ ist eine Bezeichnung für mittelalterliche Steinfiguren, die auf unverfrorene Weise ihre Vulva präsentieren.

Sie sind sowohl ein Sinnbild für die "Macht der Weiblichkeit“, als auch für die Misogynie, mit der ihnen bis heute begegnet wird.

Darauf aufbauend erzählt der essayistische Kurzfilm SHEELA in mehreren Episoden vom Konzept „Weiblichkeit".
